Vanicream™ HC 1% Hydrocortisone Anti-Itch Cream

My son has battled childhood eczema since he was two weeks old. (2007) It began as a patch on his cheek and soon spread to his entire body. By four months of age, he was covered in a severe skin rash. Thinking he was allergic to something I was eating because he was only nursing- I gave up all known allergy food triggers. There was no change. I then turned to a sensitive skin laundry soap and double rinsed all of his baby clothes. But, there was no change. I then turned to our local pediatrician who prescribed an antibiotic, told me to pick up hydrocortisone cream at the local pharmacy and referred us to a dermatologist. His eczema worsened. He was allergic to whatever additive was in the hydrocortisone cream. His skin continued to worsen and I was forced to put socks on his little hands to stop the intense itching. I would have to hold him all night to keep him from scratching as he screamed and cried because of the intense itching. Two pediatricians, three dermatologists, and two homeopaths later his skin was worse. I continued to spend hundreds of dollars on skin creams and hydrocortisone creams from around the world to find one he was not allergic to. I went as far as Japan and Australia for creams designed specifically for eczema. He was allergic to all. I resorted to making our own soap and only using plain oils to hydrate his skin. This worked for a time, but also destroyed all of his clothes because they became laden with oil. At the time, we lived in the Pacific Northwest. Unfortunately, I had not heard of Vanicream. In 2013, we relocated back to the Midwest. My son was now six years old. His eczema was controlled after finding out he was allergic to eggs, tree nuts, and most body products including sensitive-skin no-scent varieties and most laundry products. Over the years, we had become fairly adept at keeping it at bay. No hot showers, no swimming, no allergens, no laundromats (where residue from others’ soaps would cause an intense break-out) Our first winter back in Minnesota, his eczema returned with a vengeance. A good friend gave me a sample of Vanicream. I was a bit hesitant. First, I researched the company and was hopeful that this lotion would be different. I tested it on my son’s eczema covered areas and dry skin. Within a week his eczema was reduced and the dry skin was gone completely. In order to control his eczema I had to prevent break-outs. Vanicream used everyday on his dry skin does that. However, we have a very busy household and as hard as I try to stay on top of his dry skin and remind him to apply it everyday-suddenly days go by and break-outs occur. Once his skin is in the midst of a break out, Vanicream stops it from spreading-but, the itch is intolerable and the rash would remain. And then I recently heard Vanicream was coming out with VanicreamHC. I was ecstatic to try it on my son who presently in the midst of an intense break-out because of a laundry mishap.( We are building a house and forced to do laundry at a laundromat ) If I do not rinse the machines first with a gallon of vinegar…my son will break from other’s laundry products. (Full body break-outs! Anywhere the clothing touches his skin…from head to toe.) The first time I applied Vanicream HC to his eczema patches (which was his entire torso and legs and arms) the itch stopped immediately!!! And here is the great part…this is the first hydrocortisone cream he has not been allergic to! It worked and his eczema was completely gone in four days! Completely clear skin! Under previous circumstances, without Vanicream HC, he may have an eczema breakout for months. Thank you Vanicream HC…it is FINALLY…after 8 years of searching…a product that stops the intense itching of my son’s childhood eczema.

I got a sample from my dermatologist's office. My eczema has reared it's ugly head for the first time in years. I have been Miserable. Never have a felt such relief so fast! Where has this product been all of my life?! Now to just find where I can buy it! NOBODY carries it in their stores. NOBODY!?! I hate having to order everything AND PAY SHIPPING. I also agree the packaging needs to be rethought. A 2oz tube is not big enough and too difficult to get all of the product out. Please, put it in a jar and make it available in a larger size of at least 8 ounces.

The hydrocortisone creme has helped my hands when they itch from dryness. I would love it in a pump container because I would use it more. I prefer this over the regular vanicream -especially for redness and eczema . All of the products are excellent!

I find this product works very well on my hands ..I do not like the way it is packaged. It is difficult to get most of it out of the tube . I would rather have it offered in a 2 oz. jar.

As soon as I saw this new product I ordered a tube. I am amazed that after applying Vanicream HC to the red, itchy area on my face just twice it was cleared. I am so happy to have this product, I fight allergys topical, internal , food, fragrances, prescriptions and over the counter products. In this case it is cosmetics. This a relief for me, thank you, my skin doctor originally suggested your products in 2001. I have been using them ever since.
