Specializing in Sensitive Skin Care Products
Frequently
Asked Questions
Ingredient Selection
The primary purpose of our company is to make products for people with sensitive skin. We know from the responses of both physicians who recommend our products, and patients that use them, that we have achieved considerable success toward this goal.
None-the-less, we know that we will probably never be able to help every person with sensitive skin.
You can be assured that we go to great lengths to select ingredients that are safe and effective, are suitable for our customers, and then we continuously test and monitor them for quality. Likewise, our finished products undergo evaluation by our Quality Control and Quality Assurance departments as well as outside testing organizations.
We know that allergies are on the rise, and we remain vigilant and will revise our formulas, and will rule-out ingredients as knowledge in the area advances.
Clearly, anyone with severe allergies or contact sensitivities with unknown causes should contact their physician to see if a skin test is recommended before using any of our products when an ingredient may be of concern.
Do your products contain alcohol?
No, not in the sense you are probably using the term. You may have read, or been told by your physician, to avoid using products containing alcohol on your skin. The term "alcohol" in this context probably refers to alcohols such as rubbing alcohol, ethyl alcohol, or isopropyl alcohol since these alcohols are very drying to the skin.
However, there are ingredients in skin care products, including some of ours, which include the word "alcohol" in the name of the ingredient. The word "alcohol" in this case refers to the chemical structure of the ingredient and does not mean the ingredient is bad for the skin. These ingredients are often wax-like substances that help form the structure of the product.

Are Vanicream™ Skin products safe for children?

What is the difference between Vanicream™ Skin Cream and Vanicream™ Lite Lotion?
The ingredients of both products are identical. The concentration of ingredients has been adjusted to give the lotion a lighter more lotion-like feel.
Are your products non-comedogenic?
We have tested products in our line that are considered "leave on" products such as the Vanicream™ Skin Cream, and all of the Vanicream™ Sunscreens. We have even tested the Vanicream™ Cleansing Bar. They are all non-comedogenic. "Rinse off" products such as the shampoo do not pose a risk of comedogenicity and therefore have not been tested.
Do your products contain nut ingredients?
No, we do not use ingredients known to be made from common nut sources (e.g., peanuts and tree nuts such as almonds, cashews, or walnuts). Some shampoo or cleanser ingredients may be made from coconuts. However, coconuts are not actually nuts; they are seeds.
